Cost:
- $350 per session early registration price until 12/15/23 (375.00 after 12/16/2023)

This swim program will have a progression of drills for teaching proper technique, body & head position, breathing, holding water during pulling, kicking, gaining distance per stroke, increasing stroke rate without losing efficiency, and ultimately swimming faster so they will make their goal times for the 100-yard Junior Guards Swim Test.
NEWPORT BEACH JUNIOR LIFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS:

Swim test dates for 2024 are Tentative :
Saturday, March 9th, 2024 @ CMHS 9am-1pm
Tuesday March 12th, 2024 @CMHS 5:30-8:30pm
Sunday March 17th 2024 at CdMHS in 9am -1pm
Saturday March 23rd, 2024 @ CdMHS in 9am to 1pm
Times: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. rain or shine
All swim tests are held at Corona Del Mar High School pool. and Costa Mesa HS
Requirements for all participants:
- Must bring a signed waiver before they are allowed in the pool.
- Must swim 100 yards (4 lengths of a 25-yard pool) in the times listed below.
- You may try 5 times in the course of 3 days.
- Must tread water for 3 minutes without touching the sides of the pool.
- New Time Standard for 9yr olds

HUNTINGTON CITY BEACH JUNIOR LIFEGUARDS QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
Open to boys and girls ages 9 through 17 (as of July 1, 2024). Applicants must possess a basic swimming ability to be able to pass the following prerequisite exams:
• Swim 100 yards in 1 minute and 50 seconds or below (Ages 9-13).
• 9-11 year olds are eligible for the program if they make the time requirement of 1:51-2:00, but they will be enrolled in the P.M. session only, regardless of siblings.
• Swim 100 yards in 1 minute and 45 seconds or below for ages 14-17.
• Tread water for five minutes
• Swim underwater for approximately 10 yards

To Qualify:
- SWIM 100 YARDS UNDER THE TIME STANDARD FOR YOUR AGE:
9-10 years old: 2:20
11-12 years old: 2:10
13-15 years old: 2:00
- SWIM COMPLETELY UNDERWATER FOR 10 YARDS
- TREAD WATER FOR FIVE MINUTES WITHOUT REST
All swimmers are encouraged to make all swim practices for all sessions. There are NO MAKE UP CLASSES. If a swimmer passes their test, please continue swimming and finish the class.
(There is no guarantee every swimmer will pass their Junior Guards Swim Test)
