Frequently Asked Questions
Swimming at CMAC is year-round and available to join at any time during the year. Aside from a 1 week holiday break and 2 week end of summer break, we are there 5-6 days a week, all year long!
Swim meets generally occur on the weekends, roughly once each month. Some months may have regional championship meets in addition to local meets. The more advanced swimmers occasionally travel out of the area or even the state depending on the location of the events. Swim meets begin in the morning or afternoon, depending on the meet format and last just a couple hours.
Practice times depend on practice group assignment and practice location, but generally fall between 5-7pm Mon-Friday. Our younger swimmers generally practice 45-75 minutes and our older more advanced swimmers practice between 90-120 minutes per session.
Yes. Our intro-developmental groups for 5-10 years olds need to be able to complete 25 yards of functional side-breathing freestyle and technically sound backstroke without being overly stressed. They should be comfortable in the water and confident swimmers that love the pool. A working knowledge and basic understanding of butterfly and breaststroke is also beneficial when beginning. This is different than swimming lessons - we are working on developing competitive swimmers, not teaching general water safety and beginning fundamentals.
Swimming at CMAC averages $170 per month in the developmental groups, and $200 per month in the performance and senior groups. Costs are fairly stable but are driven by pool rent costs, team budgeting needs, team gear (timing equipment, blocks, canopies, etc.), and more. Joining the team requires a 1-time $150 registration fee.
